Rat

Pest-like rodent that will eat anything. A tiny beast.

Rats are nocturnal omnivores that nest underground.

Attacks (1/round)

Bite. The rat makes a melee attack. If you have been bitten by a rat, roll a D10 before you rest. On a roll of one you have caught the rat-bite fever.

Rat-Bite Fever. Disease. Symptom: fatigue. Save every night to add or remove a cumulative symptom. If you roll a 1 on your save, it was actually the plague: Add taking 1D6 damage to the symptoms.



Rat Swarm

It can smell very well, allowing it to easily spot their preys in the dark.

In a swarm, creatures are immune to being grappled or attacked by single target spells, and resist mind and weapon damage. However, they take double damage from area of effect attacks.

Attacks (1/round)

Bites. To dodge a swarm’s attack, the roll has to beat 10 + the swarm’s HP. It inflicts 1 damage. If you have been bitten by a rat, roll a D10 before you rest. On a roll of one you have caught rat-bite-fever.

  1. Monster: 1D4 rat swarms or 1D6 giant rats.
  2. Lair: A maze of tiny tunnels.
      OR
    Omen: Rat screech.
  3. Spoor: 1D6 rats running away from debris or trash.
  4. Tracks: Rat droppings.
  5. Trace: Gnawed objects.
  6. Trace: A single rat, foraging.
Salvaging the body

There is not much one can retrieve from a rat. Even though their meat is edible, there is a 10% chance that rat meat carries rat-bite fever.
